Finninger's Catering Service was founded in 1968. However, the Finninger family has been meeting the food service needs of St. Louisans for over 100 years. Bakeries in north St. Louis were founded by my great grandparents and carried on by my grandparents, Charles and Clara Finninger at the Geraldine Sweet Shop. When World War II ended, Charles Finninger, Sr. and his son, Charles Finninger, Jr. founded a neighborhood grocery store in Walnut Park. Many years later, a customer of the grocery store asked Charles, Jr. if he would cater a small party. Being an entrepreneur, Charles said "Of course!" The "small" party was for 250 people, and thus, Finninger's Catering Service was born. |

Susan Akscin joined Finninger’s Catering Services, Inc. in 2006 as CFO and Director of Human Resources. She is currently President, with a strong commitment to carrying on the long standing family tradition of feeding St. Louisan’s. |
